Good for the right person.
I saw this hairdryer at TJMaxx and purchased it and went home to look at the reviews before I even opened the packaging (beware the packaging is horrible, you will never get the dryer back in like it was!!). The reviews were mixed so I decided to try it.
The DVD wasn't really helpful to me so I just washed my hair and went to it. I have mid-back length hair, thick, and curly.
First thing I noticed is that this is not a product for people with short/shorter hair at all! You really should have about shoulder-length hair at least!
The instructions, reading them helped a lot!, were easy enough and I sectioned my hair (a must!) and started slow. The dryer is heavy to me because I had wrist surgery on my predominant hand so that was not a good thing for me. Also, it takes awhile to get the hang of using the straightening attachment and the angles! I've read reviews about their hair being pulled out badly, in my opinion my flat iron took out the same amount of hair because of how much and long I had to use it.
The drying time, from towel dry, took me about 7 or 8 minutes when it usually takes me about 15 to 20.
The major cons for me is the packaging, the heaviness, and it doesn't quite straighten my cow-lick out front.
All in all I'm very happy with this product.
Works great for frizzy hair!
I love this blow dryer, my hair is curly and very frizzy this product reduces the frizz by atleast 50%. I also like the fact that its not as noisy as other blow dryers, I can use it in my bedroom when my baby is sleeping and the noise doesn't wake him up! Great Product!
better than expected
The Conair Infiniti Hair Designer with straightener attachment is a great product! It performs much better than I expected. I have thick, wavy hair and could never get my hair straight and sleek with a regular dryer and round brush. This product makes my hair look almost as good as when my stylist does it. At first, it takes a little longer to dry your hair, but after a couple of tries and experiments, my drying time is the same as before and don't have the added time of using a flat iron. Very pleased!
Great dryer but...
I had this dryer for a few months and absolutely loved it until it broke way before it should have. The dryer itself still works but there are two small plastic hooks inside the rim of the dryer which hold the attachment on and one of those broke rendering the attachment unusable. I am African-American with a mix of coarse and curly long hair. This dryer got my hair straighter than a regular blow-dryer and brush but I still had to follow it with a Chi flat-iron which was fine with me. I am torn between buying another one of these, knowing that it could break again, or finding something else. The Conair people should find a more durable way to hold the attachment on. The plastic hooks are pretty flimsy. I still give this dryer 4 stars.
African-American with Natural Hair
I'm so glad I ordered this product. I'm an African-American with natural hair (no perm or texturizer). I was looking for an easy way to dry my hair without it getting really tight. This dryer provided just what I needed.
I de-tangle my hair first with a wide tooth comb and section it (this is important!). Then I use this dryer to blow dry my hair straight so I can get long two-strand twists. It's much better than holding a dryer in one hand and a brush in the other. If you're African-American with natural hair, this dryer will work IF you de-tangle your hair first. Hold the section of hair you want to dry, and slowly comb through the section with the dryer.
